Leaf blowers and Covid-19
How do leaf blowers play into the risk of catching the coronavirus ? Research shows that areas with higher levels of tiny particulate matter - that is, fine particles - in the air have a clear link to higher Covid-19 death rates.
Leaf blowers kick up tremendous amounts of fine particulate. This is particularly hazardous to the operator but, since the fine particles linger in the air for hours, they are also hazardous to those in the proximity. We do know that the fine particulate damages lung tissue. If your lungs are compromised and you contract Covid-19, which attacks your lungs, you may have a harder time coping and healing.
